Donald R. Farrar taught woody plant biology for forestry and wildlife majors at Iowa State University for 36 years, and has authored many research publications on the ecology of Iowa’s forests.  He is coauthor of Forest and Shade Trees of Iowa, third edition with Peter J. van der Linden (Iowa, 2011). He lives in Ames, Iowa.
